On Saturday, a female customer
at Black Swan Books in Richmond, Virginia, spotted former Trump staffer Steve
Bannon browsing the aisles. Bannon, an inveterate book-buyer, is apparently a
frequent client at the store. This female customer decided her time had come
for 15 minutes of fame, and proceeded to begin berating Bannon, calling him a
“piece of trash.” The owner of the store, Nick Cooke, promptly told her that if
she didn’t leave, he’d call the police.
He explained, “I asked her to
leave, and she wouldn’t. And I said, ‘I’m going to call the police if you
don’t,’ and I went to call the police and she left. And that’s the end of the
story.”
But it wasn’t the end of the
story.
Instead, Leftists on Twitter
decided it was time to ruin Cooke’s life and reputation for the sin of
preventing the abuse of one of his customers.
Thus, Rafael Shuminov, a
self-described “techie political artist,” began tracking down dirt on Cooke:
The owner of Black Swan Books, (Nicholas Trout Cooke, III) who was very concerned about making Steve Bannon comfortable, was a Episcopal priest whose wife Ellen Cooke resigned as national Episcopal treasurer after stealing $2.2 million in church donations https://t.co/SgdoaqTRLC— Rafael 🔥 (@rafaelshimunov) 8 de julho de 2018
Nick Cooke, owner of Black Swan Books in Richmond (capital city of Confederacy) wants everyone to know his store is a safe place for #fascism.#NickCooke won’t tolerate anyone calling out white supremacy - even after the fatal #AltRight march in #cville!— Bob Brigham (@BobBrigham) 9 de julho de 2018

And here’s a TV writer:
This bookstore thinks Steve Bannon should be allowed to shop peacefully. Well it’s gonna be pretty peaceful there when everyone stops shopping at this bookstore. Hey Black Swan Books, maybe don’t piss off the only people that still read. https://t.co/Vs2som7q1S— Todd Masterson (@Toddmasterson) 9 de julho de 2018
And then there’s Hillary
Clinton advisor Philippe Reines, who tweeted out the store’s address, phone
number, and email address. Reines then told The Daily Caller, “You have some
very fine people on both sides. They may want to contact the store as many did
after Sarah Slanders™ was asked by the owner to leave the Red Hen restaurant.
For convenience I copied & pasted the store’s ‘Contact Us’ page. Presumably
they post their contact information on the World Wide Web in the hopes people
contact them. Hence the name ‘Contact Us.’ That’s all. It’s not like I Tweeted
Lindsey Graham’s cell phone number.” He added on Twitter, “I’m providing a
service to the public by providing the contact information the bookstore posted
on their website – presumably with the hope of being contacted.”
Now, I’m no Steve Bannon fan.
I’ve made that clear for years. But Cooke was exactly right to toss this woman
from the bookshop. You can’t run a business where customers harass other
customers. The Left’s decision to make life unlivable for anyone who disagrees
is going to backfire in a pretty dramatic way.
